Foyer Akwaba: Promoting access to education and family reconciliation for vulnerable street children

More than 30,000 children, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, live on the streets. Many of them have been abused or abandoned by their families.

Foyer Akwaba provides these children with a safe and nurturing environment, offering them a home, nutritious meals, medical care, education, recreational sports, and group activities.

At the core of the center’s programs is the restoration of family bonds between the children and their relatives. A tailored action plan is created for each child and their family, with successful completion often leading to the reintegration of the child into their family environment.
In addition, the center focuses on preparing the children for a return to formal schooling, equipping them with the academic and social skills needed for success.

For older children, Foyer Akwaba also provides vocational training programs aimed at equipping them with practical skills and knowledge, empowering them to build a more secure and promising future.
