The purpose of Green Loops is to promote peace practices through the promotion of sustainability. Through actions in green areas, neutral common places, and through a participatory approach involving the entire local community, peaceful and respectful coexistence is fostered. Three Lasallian institutions were identified to launch this pilot experience; the criteria for this choice were that they are contexts in which different types of conflicts have been experienced. According to Green Loops’ idea, all institutions that have a natural area around them have an important community function and should become promoters of actions to protect the environment, an instrument to improve tolerance and peace among younger generations. The project is conceived as a strategy to introduce social and environmental education in the affected areas.
The three Lasallian institutions participating in the project are: St. Paul’s Secondary School in Marsabit (Kenya), the Fratelli Project in Lebanon and the Bahay Pag-asa Youth Center for Justice Disorder in the Philippines.
