In order to respond to the urgent educational need in South Sudan, La Salle School-Rumbek has been built to offer quality education to the next generation of South Sudanese. This School opened its doors in March 2018 in the premises of the Loreto Sisters, with 28 students. Meanwhile, work started on the new school building on a site of 48 hectares donated by the local chiefs. In June 2019, our students were able to start attending classes in the new but still unfinished school! The next intake of 80 students will start classes in March 2020, bringing the total number of students to 153. Thanks to its holistic approach integrating child rights and trauma treatment with a relevant education which provides students with much needed skills, La Salle School-Rumbek represents a beacon of hope for young people and the community.
This project has been made possible thanks to the support of Caritas Pro Vitae.
